Pawtucket’s first City Hall, built in 1871, was located on the east side of High Street, just south of Summer Street. At the time it was built, it was in the Town of North Providence and provided a secure place to store town records. In 1936, after a new City Hall was constructed on Roosevelt Avenue, the building was used as a military recruiting station, a war rationing board, and draft board. It was torn down in 1968.
