Threads of Life are painted in varying colors across the walls of buildings owned by the Pawtuckeet YMCA. The artist, Sagie Vangelina, uses the lines to reference the threads produced by the spinning industry that was an important part of the history of Pawtucket. She explains that the “abstract linework represents life as sewing threads, each color symbolizing a different path, background or challenge…” The diverse colors also represent the diversity of the Pawtucket community.
Vangelina, a native of Rhode Island, received a BS in Industrial Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, and has undertaken a number of mural commissions in the greater Boston Area.
